Edna L. Nance, 98, of Clifton, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18. She was born in Hardin County on March 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Hugh Richard and Esther Burroughs Nance.

Mrs. Nance worked for 30 years as a clerk in the Hardin County tax assessor office.She had also worked at the Pentagon during World War II, and was secretary for Dr. Dexter Woods in Waynesboro, for over 20 years. Edna was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. In her spare time she loved bird watching and working in her yard and flowers. Edna was known for her great cooking.

Edna is survived by her sister, Betty Bigbie of Indiana; niece, Vickie Clifford of Indiana; nephews, Keith Bigbie of Indiana, Michael Nance and his wife Charlotte of Savannah, and Lawrence E. Wilson of Sarasota, Florida; and great-niece, Whitley Stroud and her husband Justin of Jackson, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Wayne Nance; sister, Mary Emma Wilson; and brothers, Billy Nance and Hugh Nance.

Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 21, at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Clifton, with April Geer officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Clifton.
