Epifanio Garza, 95, of Counce, passed away on Sunday, April 9, in Corinth, Mississippi. He was born in Cuero, Texas, on Jan. 20, 1928, the son of the late Leonardo and Margarita Garza.

On July 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Annie Sue Morris, who preceded her husband in death on Feb. 4, 2004.

Mr. Garza served his country proudly as an United States Merchant Marine and was a World War II Veteran. He owned a mobile home business and retired from TVA as a welder.

He served as a constable in the Walnut Grove community for 16 years. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local 760 Union in Sheffield, Alabama.

Mr. Garza was a member of Second Creek Church of Christ until 2004 and was a current member of Pickwick Church of Christ. He loved his church and loved his work. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and getting free food.

He is survived by his sons, Randy Garza of Counce, and Ricky Garza of Franklinton, Louisiana; grandchildren, Nicholas Stokke and Clayton Garza; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Stokke, Anderson Stokke, Emelyn Stokke, Matthew Williams, and Anna Williams.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, James Wade “Jimmy” Garza; one daughter, Connie Rene Frazier; granddaughter, Valerie Garza Williams; five sisters; and five brothers.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, April 16, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Aaron Patterson, Randy Garza and Maxie Jones officiating. Burial followed at Lutts Cemetery in Lutts, Tennessee.
