Gary Vaughn, 66, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14. He was born on Oct. 16, 1956, in Jackson, Tennessee, the son of the late Leon Grady and Mary Ella Tidwell Vaughn.

On Oct. 29, 2006, he was united in marriage to Sharon Elaine Porter, who survives.

Gary Vaughn was a semipro Motocross Racer until age 22. His motocross career ended due to a racing accident. He then became a truck driver for 32 years until he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s on May 17, 2013, at the age of 57. He loved God, his family and his country.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Vaughn of Savannah; sons, Dallas Vaughn of Chaing Rai, Thailand, Zac Vaughn of Savannah; stepdaughter, Crystal Dawn Porter of Savannah; stepsons, David Rogers of Savannah, and Michael Rogers of Loretto, Tennessee; brother, Joe Vaughn of Adamsville; sisters, Cindy Thrasher of Adamsville, and Mitzi Sherrill (Mike) of Jackson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Elyonna Vaughn, Cristian Vaughn, Mary Ella Vaughn, Rylnn Vaughn; step grandchildren, Will Rogers, Elizabeth Letson, Michael Rogers Jr. and Lucas Rogers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne Vaughn; son, Jeff Vaughn; brother, Leon Vaughn; brother-in-laws, Terry Thrasher, Jimmy Harold Robison; and sister-in-law, Jane Vaughn.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, at First Baptist Church, 1 pm., in Adamsville, with Phil Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville.
