Genny Sue Campbell Martin, 77, of Crump, passed away on Friday evening July 5, at Regional One Memphis. She was born in Prichard, Mississippi, and grew up in Enville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Jesse Everett and Addie Mae Campbell.
Mrs. Martin attended schools at Enville and Henderson. She worked at Motorola in Chicago before moving to Milledgeville, Tennessee. She had also worked at HIS at Saltillo. She worked for several years as a cashier at Walmart in Savannah and Selmer, where she never met a stranger.
She was united in marriage to Jim Martin in 2007, and they made their home in Crump. Mr. Martin preceded his wife in death in 2017.
Genny loved gardening and flowers and especially enjoyed shopping for clothes and shoes and loved “putting the entire outfit together.” She and Mr. Martin enjoyed motorcycle riding. She was a member of the Enville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her sister, Kaye Ritter of Enville; nieces and nephews; Melinda Johnston, Melissa Holder (Ricky), Alicia Melton (Jared), and Jesse Pruett; several great-nieces and nephews; and longtime loving companion Jimmy Ferguson of Selmer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Campbell Pruett.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 13, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel, Henderson, with Kevin Roeder officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Enville, Tennessee.
