Ralph Nowell

Ralph Patton Nowell, 82, of Counce, passed away on Monday, July 8. He was born on Sept. 1, 1941, in Madison County, Tennessee, the son of Robert and Flora Nell Nowell.
He graduated from Northside High School in Jackson, Tennessee, in 1960. In 1964, he was married to Dorothy Laney, who survives him in death.
He pursued a career in the trucking industry and retired from Yellow Freight Trucking Company in 1998 as Senior Vice President. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and serving at the First Baptist Church in Counce, Tennessee, where he was a faithful and active member.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David Nowell (Sue) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter, Kristy Jones of Stilwell, Kansas; and two granddaughters, Brittanie Nowell of Spring Hill, Kansas and Kaci Knoche of Gardner, Kansas; sister, Janie Hickman; brother, James Nowell (Janice); nephews, Chuck Carothers and Chris Carothers; and nieces, Celia Jordan and Jamie Ann Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his niece, Janet McEwen.
The family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Counce or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, July 14, at First Baptist Church of Counce, with Rev. Jimmie McChristial officiating. Burial followed on Monday, July 15, at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, Tennessee.
