Harvey Eugene “Gene” McFall, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 9, at his home in Corinth, Mississippi surrounded by family.

Gene, a very caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather (affectionately known as “Geno”), was born July 2, 1931, in Savannah, Tennessee, to the late Annie Johnson and Henry Russell McFall.

He graduated from Central High School in Savannah in 1949 and entered the U.S. Armed Forces in the Army Engineer division serving in the Korean War where he received multiple honorable medals. After discharge from the Army in 1953, Gene moved back to Savannah where he met and fell in love with Virginia Ann Blount. He loved to tell the story of how they met and that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen!

Gene and Virginia both started at the University of Tennessee-Martin (“UTM”) in 1954 and they married on June 10, 1955. Gene graduated in 1958 from UTM with a degree in Agriculture where he was also selected as Who’s Who. After graduation, he worked for Ford Motor Credit Company in Memphis and Little Rock.

In 1961, they moved to Corinth, Mississippi, where they began their family and started their own business. At Corinth Equipment Company, he sold Ford tractors and implements for 25 years and started his long-standing love of buying and selling many things including cattle, farm land, Chrysler cars and real estate to name a few. He spent many years farming and raising cattle on his farm in Kendrick…and loved to tell stories of farming his family land in Savannah and relaxing with his brothers in Horse Creek.

In the 1990’s, he started buying property and developing real estate subdivisions, which he really enjoyed because he met and helped so many wonderful people. In the most recent few years, Gene stayed busy with managing his rental property and mowing his yard (riding his Kubota might have been one of his favorite activities).

Early in their marriage, Gene and Virginia developed a true love for Pickwick Lake where they bought and sold multiple houses and enjoyed it immensely as they loved to entertain their children and grandchildren there. His favorite time at the lake were morning boat rides on one of his many pontoon boats...all named Mar~Li~Mi~Mar (named after his four children). There is nothing he enjoyed more than sitting outside at the lake watching boats go down the river or sitting in his garage in Corinth and visiting with his neighbors and everyone that walked by!

In addition to his work and lake life, Gene and Virginia were passionate supporters of their children and grandchildren’s activities, often traveling to see them play sports. In his younger days, they loved to play tennis and travel with other Ford Tractor dealers and wives on trips.

Since 1961, Gene and Virginia were active members of Corinth Methodist Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) and served in various capacities and was an active member of the Challenger Sunday School Class.

Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia Blount McFall; his parents Annie Johnson and Henry Russell McFall; and his two brothers, James Richard McFall of Dresden, Tennessee, and Henry Ancil McFall of Savannah, Tennessee.

He is survived by his four children, daughters, Mary Ann Brown and husband Joe of Germantown, Tennessee, and Lisa Pannell and husband Robert of Greenwood, Mississippi; and sons, Michael McFall and wife Paige of Corinth, Mississippi, and Mark McFall also of Corinth; ten grandchildren, Preston Brown (Elizabeth), Holly Ann Pannell Singh (Jason), Haley McFall, Jackson Pannell (Mary Key), William Brown (fiancé Raines Ivey), Wesley McFall, John Michael McFall (Mary Frances), Steve Pannell, Carson McFall,and Jane Rob Pannell; four great-grandchildren, Ann Pinder, Jack and Walt Singh and Ava Grace Brown; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at First Methodist Church in Corinth at 1p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. Prior to that, visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. A burial service will follow at Memory Gardens in Savannah. Arrangements are under the direction of McPeters Funeral Home in Corinth.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Methodist Church of Corinth, Mississippi, or one’s favorite charity.
