Janice Kay Baugus, 68, of Savannah, passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, in Southaven, Mississippi. She was born on Jan. 8, 1954 in Savannah, the daughter of Billy Simmons and the late Evelyn Smith Simmons.

On July 8, 1977, she was united in marriage to Wayne Baugus, who survives.

Mrs. Baugus worked as a legal secretary for J. Gilbert Parrish Jr. for 27 years. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Savannah, where she was also a member of the choir. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great -grandmother. She was the best cook and a thoughtful giver. She has been a woman full of faith and hope throughout her life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Jeff Baugus and his wife Holly of Counce, and Chris Baugus of Collierville, Tennessee; father, Billy Simmons of Olive Hill, Tennessee; granddaughters, Ashley Baugus of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Autumn Ballard and her husband Steve of Counce, and Ivy Roberts of Counce; great-granddaughter, Hazel Brooke Ballard of Counce; sisters, Billie Jean Delaney and her husband Tommy of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, and Lisa Jerrolds and her husband Dale of Savannah; and brothers, Robert Simmons and his wife Lucy of Savannah, and Kevin Simmons and his wife Misty of Olive Hill, Tennessee.

Services were held on Monday, Oct. 31, at Sharon Baptist Church in Savannah, with Greg Young, Jeremy Isbell and Eric Smith officiating. Burial will followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
