Jerry Lee Bell, 77, of Savannah, former resident of Columbia, Tennessee, and former inspector for Union Carbide, passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, at Savannah Health Care & Rehab Center in Savannah, surrounded by his devoted and loving family. He was born on Nov. 11, 1945 to the late Harold Lee Bell and the late Sarah Frances Mash Bell, and was reared in the Hampshire community of Maury County.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War and recently received his 50 year membership with the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He had many interests over the years, including farming, hunting, fishing, tractors and going to the river.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Mrazek Bell of Savannah; son, Stoney Bell of Savannah; stepdaughter, Brandy Miller of Corinth, Mississippi; sister, Debby Bell of Ormond Beach, Florida; two brothers, Wayne Bell of Lewisburg and Virgle Bell of Hampshire; half-sister, Donna Bell Alexander of Lawreneburg; granddaughter, Adalyn Bell; grandson, Maddox Bell; four stepgrandsons, Tony Tompkins, Garrett Bloom, Tanner Bloom and Kaden Silvino; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Staggs; three half-siblings, Fred Bell, Danita Andrews and Darlene Marlow.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2 p.m., at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee, with Randy Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, with military honors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
