Joel Murphy (9-3-22) service 9-7-22

Joel Murphy, 64, of Savannah, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3. He is the son of the late Raymond Loyd and Gertie Maye Hopper Murphy.

He was united in marriage to Melissa Ann Benson, who survives.

Mr. Murphy retired from Murphy Construction. He was a member of Olivet Pentecostal Church.

In addition to his wife of 27 years, Melissa of Savannah; he is survived by his sons, Jeremy Wayne Murphy of Summertown, Tennessee and Calvin Edward Abels of Savannah; brothers, John Loyd Murphy and Micheal Lynn Murphy, both of Savannah; and sisters, Sherry Lynn Irvin and Tracy Michelle Morris, both Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lonnie Lee Murphy and Raymond Earl Murphy.

Services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Olivet Pentecostal Church in Savannah, with Ernie Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Neill Cemetery in Savannah.
