John D. Austin, 69, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, the son of the late Lillie Lucille Cossey Austin.
Mr. Austin honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Secret Service/Intelligence department until his retirement after more than 38 years.
He is survived by his sisters, Robbie Ann Jones of Savannah, and Effie Dean Franks of Union City, Tennessee; and his brother, James Austin of Savannah.
In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his sister, Willie Jo Jones; and brothers, Floyd Jr. Austin and Billy C. Austin.
Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with John Robinson and Stan Watson officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
