Joseph “Joe” Wilton Yarbrough, 78, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, in Memphis. He was born in Memphis on July 13, 1944, the son of the late Joseph Clarence and Lucille Yarbrough.

After losing his wife in 2006 he was later married on June 23, 2007 to Inez Alexander Weeks, who survives.

After Joe graduated high school he served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict. Joe later opened his insurance agency in Memphis, specializing in health insurance. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church in Savannah, where he served as song leader before his health declined. Joe was an avid fisherman and could fix anything.

In addition to his wife of 15 years, Inez Yarbrough of Savannah, he is survived by his children, Joe Yarbrough Jr. of Hernando, Mississippi and Michelle Leonard of Memphis; grandchildren, Mallory Yarbrough and Jessica Cox both of Arkabutla, Mississippi, and Heather Dewig and Shawn Marchbanks, both of Memphis; four great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Rosemarie Adams of Fayette, Missouri, Gina Anderson of Savannah, and Billy Weeks, Jr. of Panama City, Florida; stepgrandchildren, Blake Anderson, Courtney Anderson, Cecilee Anderson, Bethany Symons, Canna Conrow, Emmett Rogers and Dillon Weeks; four step great-grandchildren; niece, Julie Brashears Harter of Brooksville, Florida; and two nephews, Byron Brashears of Los Angeles, California, and Harold Brashears of Goshen, Mississippi, whom everyone often mistaken as his twin. His mother, Lucille was always asked how far apart they were and she would reply about three weeks.

Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 7, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Ed Alexander officiating. Burial followed at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
