Joyce Benson Newton, 73, of Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 23, in Jackson, Tennessee. She is the daughter of the late Albert Sidney and Grace Worley DeShazier.
Mrs. Newton was a homemaker. She had attended Olivet Pentecostal Church and Savannah Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Murphy, Tina Benson, Regina Hollins and Anthony Benson; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Benson; and the father of her children, Roy Edward Benson.
Services were held on Friday, Aug. 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Ernie Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Wilkerson Cemetery in Savannah.
