Kay Alene Mabry, 63, of Adamsville, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Aug. 20. She was born on March 1, 1960, in Bellflower, California. Kay lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and unwavering kindness.

Ms. Mabry earned a four year scholarship for softball. Playing with a broken jaw and fighting through her injuries, she helped lead her team to Nationals. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1985.

Throughout her career, Kay served in various roles that allowed her to impact and improve the lives of others. She dedicated many years to the Hardin County Veterinary Clinic before retiring in 2019. Her commitment to caring for animals and ensuring their well-being was truly admirable.

Prior to her work at the veterinary clinic, she fearlessly served as a police officer in Springtown, Texas, and rose to the rank of Sergeant in Cockrell Hill, Texas. Her bravery and selflessness were evident as she helped maintain peace and protect her community.

Kay’s passion for teaching led her to become an educator and coach at Poolville ISD in Texas. She also selflessly served as an EMT for Lifecare in Weatherford, Texas.

A natural giver with an ever-present smile, Kay dedicated her time as a volunteer at Horse Creek Wildlife and Refuge. Her efforts were acknowledged when she received the Volunteer of the Year Award, a testament to her unwavering commitment towards making this world a better place.

Beyond her achievements and accolades, Kay’s true essence lay in her vibrant personality. She had a unique ability to turn strangers into friends with her warm heart. She was always inclusive, considerate, kind, and fun to be around. She would always put a smile on someone’s face.

While our hearts ache with grief at this loss, let us celebrate the wonderful memories we shared with Kay and carry on her legacy of love, compassion, and generosity.

She is survived by her parents, Bobby and Carol Mabry; and a twin sister, Debbie Mabry. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Woody and Fern Herron, and Jack and Alene Mabry.

A private graveside service was held. In lieu of flowers, food and gifts, donations may be made to the Savannah Church of Christ youth group or the Horse Creek Wildlife and Refuge Center.
