Kerry D. Blanton, 69, of Savannah, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 7. He was born on July 27, 1954, in Jackson, Tennessee, the son of the late J.C. “Jake” Blanton and Zulene Joyce Guyton Blanton.

On Jan. 5, 1973, he was united in marriage to Bonnie D. Hosea, who survives.

Kerry worked in construction since the age of 14 and built bridges for various companies for 51 years until he retired at the age of 65. He was a proud man and he took pride in working hard for what he had, He was compassionate towards everyone and loved spending time with his family. Kerry was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church in Savannah.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie D. Blanton of Savannah; son, Chad D. Blanton of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Jaime D. Parrish of Savannah; grandchildren, Michaella Callahan, Ray Ray Blanton, Schuyler Elliott, Xavier Blanton, and Julyun Blanton; great grandchildren, Lakyn Callahan, Rylee Callahan, Addison Elliott, and Ashton Elliott; sister, Kathy Robertson of Adamsville; and nephew, Jeremy Hosea of Roanoke, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Kerry was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Blanton; and sister, Angela Grills.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Jason Estes officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
