Lonnie G. King, 79, of Selmer, passed away and departed to his heavenly home on Saturday, Aug. 5. He was born in McNairy County, on Aug. 22, 1943, the son of the late John Eldridge and Lola Lonell King.

On Nov. 16, 1962, he was united in marriage to the late Patsy Ferguson King in a double ceremony with his twin and her sister.

Mr. King lived a long life working many jobs where he had many adventures with Brown Shoe Factory, Golden Rule Dollar Stores, King’s True Value Hardware and Lube-A-Chain. The most favorite job he ever held was when he began King’s Rentals. Mr. King loved working on his rental homes and seeing his tenants frequently. He was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. He was also an active attendee of Full Gospel Fellowship Church. His favorite pastime included watching television preaching and calling his children nightly.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie King Goodrum and husband Scotty of Selmer; son, Jason King and wife Belinda of Selmer; grandchildren, Brent King and wife Elizabeth, Sidney Goodrum and special friend, Jenna McClain; great-granddaughter, Elise Evelyn King; siblings, Larry King, Junell and Charles Goodrum, John and Dottie King and Connie and Duane Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews in his large family.

In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ferguson King; in-laws, Ancil and Roberta Ferguson; sister-in-law, Shirley Ferguson King, and a niece, Sherri King Duncan.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023 at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, with David Paseur officiating. Burial followed at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Selmer.
