Louise Jackson (1-12-23) service 1-15-23

Louise Taylor Jackson, 78, of Counce, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, at her home. She was born July 22, 1944, in Ramer, the daughter of the late Mavoureen Taylor and the late Johnny Taylor.

She was united in marriage to Grady Jackson on June 16, 1962. They started their life together with a short time in Ramer. They spent many years, with many wonderful friends, in Memphis, and retired later to Counce.

Mrs. Jackson had many hobbies and loves during her lifetime. As a little girl, she played with her sister, Shelby Jean, and fought with her brother, Wayne. She was later blessed with the nickname Sissy, which most of her family calls her, by her younger sister, Rhonda. She graduated from Ramer High School, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming queen.

Raising her children, Cheryl and David, and creating a loving home were her passions for many years. After her children were older, she followed a different passion by going to college and obtaining her teaching degree at age 40. She spent 25 years teaching children in Memphis and at Pickwick Southside.

Throughout the years, she enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing golf, square dancing with Grady, water skiing, playing cards and dominoes, and attending worship at Riverview Baptist Church. The activity didn’t matter as much as the people. Louise always loved people, and she was always ready to brighten anyone’s day with her sweet smile. That sweet, heartwarming smile will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Grady Jackson of Counce; daughter, Cheryl Barnes and husband Bobby of Crump; son, David Jackson and wife Donna of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Taber and husband Paul of Las Vegas, Matthew Kutz and wife Caitlin of Collierville, Jordan Kutz and wife Molly of Memphis, Cassidy Kutz of Memphis, Will Jackson of Houston, and Elizabeth Jackson of Houston. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Kaden Taber, Riley Louise Taber and Camden Kutz. She is also survived by two sisters, Shelby Rimmer of Bartlett, and Rhonda Hively of Corinth, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Allen Jackson; and her brother, Wayne Taylor.

Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 15, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, with Allen Guyer and Dr. Ken Storey officiating. Burial followed at Hope McNairy County Memorial Cemetery in Selmer. Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-nephews.
