Mary Lane Smith, 93, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, Dec. 4. She was born on Oct. 25, 1930, in the Hardin’s Creek Community, the daughter of the late Will and Ruth Cromwell.

She worked at First National Bank when she married R.D. Smith on March 10, 1951. Later on she worked at Brown Shoe Factory and Dillon Manufacturing. She loved going to yard sales, clipping coupons and collecting stuff; dolls, dishes, stamps, and anything Elvis. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She attended Robertson Chapel Church, participated in their Women’s Ministry and was a CAM store volunteer.

She is survived by her son, Johnny (Sue); two grandchildren, Justin (Elizabeth) and Shayna; great-grandchild Juda; and three step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Kendrick and Ava Lackey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.D.; son, David; daughter, Mary Ann; sister, Dorothy Putnam; and brothers, Bill, Bennie and Danny Cromwell.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Robertson Chapel Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
