Melba Fay Robinson Vickery, 78, of McEwen, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was born on April 22, 1944, in Pickwick, the daughter of the late James M. Robinson and Irene Mckinney Robinson from Counce.

Mrs. Vickery retired from the United States postal service in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of Wildwood Valley Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Vickery McCann, of Waverly, Tennessee; son, Barry Vickery, of McEwen, Tennessee; adoptive brother, Jerry “Duck” Matlock, of Adamsville; grandchildren, Laura Daniella McCann and Savannah Michelle McCann; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous adoptive nieces and nephews; and numerous adoptive grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin “Ben” Vickery; brothers, Johnny Robinson, Garland “Cotton” Robinson, George “Buster” Robinson, Corbin Robinson, Clyde “Coonie” Robinson, Tommy Robinson, Kenneth Robinson, Ronald Robinson and Jerry “Goob” Robinson; sisters, Louella “Cricket” Greene, Betty Jo Williams and Mary Louise Blakney.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, Sept. 10, in Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel, with Ronnie Hughes and Jeremy McFarlin officiating.

Mrs. Vickery’s wishes were to be cremated and memorialized at her monument at White Sulfur Cemetery in Pickwick, near the Robinson family homestead that later became the Winfield-DunnGolf Course.
