Melessa Mitchell (6-15-23) service 6-20-23

Melessa Gay Baugus Mitchell, 61, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, June 15, in Columbia, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Jimmie Raymond and Bobbie Dean Staggs Baugus.

Ms. Mitchell worked as a bartender at Savannah Moose Lodge, where she was also a member for 17 years. She attended Holy Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Latonya Durham of Savannah; son, Derick Mitchell of Savannah; sisters, Tina Melson of Savannah, Debra Davis of Savannah, and Gail Edwards of Waynesboro, Tennessee; brothers, Shannon Baugus of Collinwood, Tennessee, and Jerry Baugus of Waynesboro, Tennessee; and three grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother in law, Steve Hubbard.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, June 20, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Timmy Keen officiating. Burial followed at Crossroads Cemetery in Savannah.
