Patricia Vontice Robertson, 81, of New Albany, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21. She was devoted follower of Christ, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Born Patricia Turner in Memphis in 1941 to the late Vontice Harvey Farr and Bilbo Oliphant Turner, she resided primarily in Memphis and Savannah. She and her husband, the late Bruce Morlan Robertson, also resided in Southern California for several years.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Jean Herbel and Jenny Bell Graham; and her brother, Andrew Turner.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by her daughter, Ginger Markovitz; and her son, James (Jay) Dupree III; her beloved grandchildren, Russell Mallette, Lara Veal and James Dupree IV; and her adored great-grandchildren, Sophia Mallette, Lilly Grace Veal, Norah Mallette and Jaysen Kayne Veal. She is also survived by a brother, James Milton Turner, from Houlka, Mississippi; and her sister-in-law, Bobbye Turner of Collierville, Tennessee.

Family always came first with Mrs. Robertson. She was a loving mother to her three children, Ginger, Jamie and James (Jay). When her daughter Jamie died unexpectedly, she raised her two young granddaughters, Lara Megan and Kristie Leigh. Throughout her life, her home was a refuge for extended family members having a hard time or needing comfort.

Her home was always filled with music, especially Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a talent for changing song lyrics to fit any occasion. Family members enjoyed making her laugh because she would “freeze up,” double over, and could not catch her breath. She loved babies, children and dogs (particularly pugs). Her great-granddaughter, Lilly Grace, who lived nearby, was a constant source of joy to her in her last years. She loved to paint and draw, crochet, and dine out with friends and family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her faith in God, and her generous spirit.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at 11 a.m., at Memphis Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, 38119, with a lunch reception onsite following the service. Mrs. Robertson will be interred with her late husband, Lt. Col. Bruce M. Robertson at West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery. Her family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers and support during this difficult time.
