Patsy Ruth Miller Young, 86, of Savannah, passed away around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, at Hardin Medical Center Health and Rehabilitation Center, after a somewhat extended illness of congestive heart failure and renal failure. She was born July 10, 1936, in Wayne County, Tennessee. The eldest daughter of Coy M. Miller and Nina Lou Wilkerson Miller of Savannah. The granddaughter of John P. and Callie Donia Williams Miller of Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Daniel D. and Patty Temperance Lynn Wilkerson of Martin Mills, Tennessee.

Ms. Young worked for about ten years as a seamstress at Savannah Manufacturing (The Garment Factory) on Pickwick Road (The current site of Jackson State Community College in Savannah). She also worked for around twenty two years and retired from Brown Shoe Company when it closed. After that, she spent a couple of years at both Cross Country Manufacturing and Angelica. After all of this, she went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked with a local home health agency as well as Hardin Home Nursing Home. She then worked as a cook at “Christie’s” Restaurant for a period of about seven years. She was an avid quilter and crafter and collector of all kinds of material. After her “final retirement” she served as a “Pink Lady” in the gift shop at Hardin Medical Center for a number of years. Before her health began to fade, she enjoyed travelling and made at least one group bus trip to New York City. She also delighted in the time that she was able to spend with her great-grandchildren.
