Ruby Dean Cornelius, 81, of Shiloh, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 4, in Corinth, Mississippi. She was born on Feb. 15, 1941, in Alcorn County, Mississippi, and is the daughter of the late Leslie and Venia Hollins Edwards.

Ruby was a member of South Shiloh Full Gospel Church and lived in Shiloh all of her life. She was a hard worker her whole life, usually working 2-3 jobs at a time. She always made sure her family was provided for. The place to go was always at her house, or her sister’s (Shirley’s) house every weekend for her family and friends. There would always be great food, fun times and fellowship. She and her sister, Shirley, were always together. They lived together a lot of their lives, took care of each other and sometimes bickered like sisters do. Everyone you would meet would rave about how much they loved her cooking, especially her homemade slaw. Not only did they love her cooking, she loved cooking for everyone. She loved going to church as well. She didn’t retire until her mid-70s from Savannah Foods, one of her many places of employment. After retirement, she picked up coloring as a hobby and loved spending time with all of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa McAfee of Counce; sister, Shirley Austin of Shiloh; brother, Joe Edwards and his wife Becky of Lawton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Zach Edwards of Selmer, Justin Edwards of Finger, Tennessee, and Kara Dawson and her husband Hunter of Michie; great-grandchildren, Andie Klaire Edwards, Devyn Edwards, Tommi Jane Dawson, Kayla Rinks, Clay McAfee, Mallorie McAfee, Esme McAfee, Donna Qualls and Jacci Qualls; and great-great- grandchildren, Bella Rinks and Jasper McAfee.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Edwards; sisters, Marie Edwards, Mattie Eason, Mary Ann Stevens, Sally Ledgewood and Annie Buckeridge; brothers, James William Edwards, Eugene Edwards, Dewey Edwards, James Edwards and Willie Edwards; and great-great-grandchild, Emmalyn Rinks.

Services were held on Aug. 8, at South Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Shiloh, with James Newcomb and Scotty Edwards officiating. Burial followed at Cromwell South Shiloh Cemetery in Shiloh.
