Ruby Nell Benson Wilkerson Dennis, 90, of Savannah, passed away on Sunday, April 2. She was born on March 30, 1933, the daughter of the late Willie and Hattie Weaver Benson.

She was first united in marriage to Arthur Wilkerson (who is also the father of her children), and then later to Andrew Dennis, both preceded her in death.

In her earlier years, she worked as a motel manager and then as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Hardin County Nursing Home. In her later years, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Dennis attended First Assembly of God and Church of God. She was of the pentecostal belief. She enjoyed singing gospel music and playing the keyboard. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Margaret Benson, Irene (Billy Jo) Hurley, Dennie (Mary Ann) Wilkerson, Daniel ‘Pete” (Judy) Wilkerson and Mary (Dannie) Frazier; sisters, Marie Cook of Savannah, and Jo Ann Toole of Panama City, Florida; brothers, Willie Ray Benson and Jimmy Benson both of Savannah; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and late husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, James Wilkerson; sister, Hazel Deshazier; and brother, Junior Benson.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, April 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah. Burial followed at Wilkerson Cemetery in Savannah.
