Rubye Goff Gean, 97, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14. She was born on Oct. 1, 1926 in Saltillo, the daughter of the late Loran Wylie and Vida Smith Goff.

On Dec.16, 1945, she was united in marriage to George Gilbert Gean, who preceded his wife in death on Feb. 23, 2007.

Mrs. Gean had worked for Parsons Shirt Factory, Brown Shoe Company, Fred’s Dollar Store and the Hardin County Board of Education. She was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ. Rubye loved playing the piano, gardening, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family.

Rubye is survived by her daughters, Vicky Bromley and her husband Albert, and Myra Blount; son, Farrell Gean and his wife Virginia; grandchildren, Ondie Mitchell, and Jarrod Bromley and his wife Brittany; great-grandchildren, Cade Mitchell, Macy Bromley, Millie Bromley and Libby Bromley; and niece, Jan Beard.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rubye was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Beard.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, Dec. 17, at Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah, with Barry Binion and Jim Chamblee officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
