Ruth “Nannie” Haggard, 91, of Savannah, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Corinth, Mississippi. She was born in Hardin County, on Oct.11, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Lantie Dean Rose Evans.

On Feb. 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Barney K. Haggard, who preceded his wife in death on July 30, 1983.

Ruth had worked for Clifton Manufacturing and Brown Shoe Company. She stayed home the last 25 years of her mother’s life to care for her. Ruth was a member of Mount Carmel Methodist Church in Clifton. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, sewing, quilting, cooking and working puzzles. Ruth’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by one sister, Robbie Ricketts; grandchildren, Bridget Ray, Leiah Gillis, Miranda Haggard, Marian Fisher and Adam Haggard; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Paul, Maycee Parmley, Daniel Devers, Dalton Devers and Abigail Haggard; and one great-great-grandchild, Blakely Paul.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Haggard; daughter, Donna Ray Talley; sisters, Johnnie Maxine Evans and Marilyn Dean Evans; and brothers, Royal, J.E., Buck, Curtis, Jack, Howard and Rex Evans.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Clifton, with Sandy Potts and Tony Polk officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Clifton.
