Ruth Pickett, 95, of Selmer, passed away on Monday, Jan. 30, the daughter of Bob and Jewell Milford.

Ms. Pickett was a switchboard operator, and later a technician, for South Central Bell Telephone Company, which later became known as AT&T, from which she retired.

She is survived by daughters, Wanda Jean Pickett of Somerville, Tennessee, Charlotte (Nickie) Harris of Lexington, Tennessee; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Owen of Destin, Florida, and Vickie Whitaker of Midlothian, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Don Timothy Pickett; and three brothers, Joe Neal, Welton and Jim Milford.

Services were held on Friday, Feb. 3, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer. Interment followed at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Samaritan’s Purse or Gideon International.
