Sandra Kay Melson Williams, 54, of Savannah, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Corinth, Mississippi. She was born on Oct. 18, 1968, the daughter of the Robert Coy Melson and Brenda Kay Melson.

She graduated from Hardin County High School in 1986. After graduating from high school, she went to Middle Tennessee State University where she graduated in 1990 with a degree in elementary education K-6 grade.

Her first job in education was filling in for a person’s maternity leave at Pickwick Southside. After that, she went to Hardin County High School to work as a librarian. Sometime in the mid 2000s, she went back to school on Saturdays and got her masters degree in library science. At the time of her death, she was the librarian at Northside Elementary School.

In 2002, Sandra met the love of her life, Joe Duane Williams. They were united in marriage on Feb. 1, 2003.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Duane Williams; parents, Coy and Brenda Melson; sister, Debbie Jane Brannon; nephew, Steven Coy Brannon; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Williams family requests book donations in memory of Sandra Williams be made to Northside Elementary School or memorial donations to Savannah Church of Christ Sprouts.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Campground Cemetery in Savannah, with Barry Binion officiating.
