Sarah Blanton Gray, 91, of Lafayette, California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 31, in Walnut Creek, California. She was born on Jan. 28, 1932, in Adamsville, the daughter of late parents Ova A. Delaney and Leonard A. Blanton and sister of the late Gov. Ray Blanton.

She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee in 1953 and married Robert A. Gray Jr. on Sept. 5, 1953, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2014.

They moved to California in 1954, where she worked at Kaiser-Permanente as a pharmacist from 1960 until her retirement in 1995, beloved by all her peers. She moved to Lafayette, California shortly after that and dedicated her life to her family, living the rest of her days in the Bay Area.

Mrs. Gray is survived by her brother, Gene Blanton of Franklin, Tennessee; her children, Cherryl Gray and Stephen(Marcy)Gray; her grandchildren, Amarintha Orvis and Rebecca(Minjae)Kang-Gray; her step-grandchildren Trina Piceno and Tony Valencia; and her sister-in-heart Sarah Walker.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 1 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Adamsville, with Tory Shane Dillard officiating. Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville.
