Stella West, 90, of Stantonville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, in Savannah. She was born in Mississippi on Nov. 27, 1931. On March 24, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Henry West, who preceded his wife in death on Feb. 13, 1978.

Stella worked for over 40 years at Garan Sportswear. She was a member of First Christian Church in Adamsville. Stella had a green thumb. She enjoyed walking daily, with stick in hand, throughout the neighborhood. Stella was well known for her gentle soul and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. She loved her family first and foremost. Stella was loved by many and her family and neighborhood called her “Granny”.

Stella is survived by her son, Henry Leroy West and his wife Wanda of Stantonville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Phylicia Gibbs and her husband Gill and Wendy West; great-grandchildren, Aaron Baker, Kameron West, Beadie Gibbs and Dakota Sellers; great-great-grandchild, Jett Baker; and brother, Gene Watson of Tupelo, Mississippi.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, George Cutrer and Johnny West; sister, Pauline Douglass; and brothers, Battie Martin and Bill Martin.

Services were held on Aug. 7, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville, with Clint Hopper officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Vinson Cemetery in Stantonville, Tennessee.
