Thomas Allen Stewart, 88, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 16. He was born on Sept. 23, 1934, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, the son of the late Robert Lee and Alta Mae Green Stewart.

On December 5, 1952, he was united in marriage to Doris Ann Colvin Stewart, who survives.

Mr. Stewart was a charter member of Riverview Baptist Church in Savannah. He was true to his church and dearly loved his Savior and was so anxious to meet the Lord.

His career started in Macon, Georgia at Georgia Kraft in 1957, and he retired 62 years later from Alabama News Print in Monroeville, Alabama. He began as an electrician helper during his tenure with the paper industry. He held numerous positions including electrical and instrument superintendent on multiple jobs in numerous mills in the paper industry throughout the southeast.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Ann Colvin Stewart of Savannah; children, Michael Allen Stewart Sr. of Cullman, Alabama, Deneyse Elaine Marshall of Savannah, and Shawn Michele Lowder of Savannah; sister, Madelene Toler; grandchildren, Stewart Ashley Williams, Melody Bradley, Morgan Stewart, Tyler Andrew Stewart, Allie M. Stewart, Christian Stricklin, Samantha Krebs, Madison Whitlow, Lane DeBerry Jr. and Jenny Lind Ayra; and great-grandchildren, Macey Stricklin, Kaison Leibach, Killian Whitlow, Traeleigh DeBerry, Emma DeBerry, Lilly Beth Gray, Eli Williams, Eliza Williams, Gracee Brown, Mason Iturbe, Jace Ayra, Stella Ayra, Fletcher Bradley and J.R. Krebs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jana Shree’ Stewart; siblings, Ura Culpepper, Vera Revels, Bruce Stewart and Ilene Morrow; grandson, Michael Allen Stewart Jr.; and great-grandparents, Thomas Andrew Stewart and Mattie Stewart.

Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Riverview Baptist Church in Savannah, with Allen Guyer and Dr. Jerry Spencer officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
