Wanda Vires, 55, a wonderful nurse and loving wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother, of Finger, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 15. She was born on Nov. 13, 1964, in Memphis, to Mollie Ann Milender Monday and the late Rodney Ross Foster.

She married her beloved husband Nicky Vires on July 10, 1990. She dedicated herself to her nursing career for 23 years, with her most recent position being at Henderson Health & Rehab. Her kind and compassionate nature made her a beloved nurse who cared deeply for every resident she looked after. In her free time, Mrs. Vires enjoyed camping and spending time at their house on the river.

Above all else, she treasured her family more than anything else in the world. She was devoted to her husband of 33 years, Nicky Vires of Finger. She is also survived by her mother, Mollie Monday of Counce; and four sons; Chris Vires of Lewisville, Texas; Daniel Vires and his wife Ginger of Michie; Tegan Burks of Henderson Tennessee; Ryan Vires of Finger; four grandchildren also held a special place in her heart, Hunter Vires, Ashton Vires, Tate Burks and Kyile Burks. Additionally, she was survived by her sister, Teresa Jones of Henderson; and daughter-in-law, Amber Vires of Finger.

She was preceded in death by stepfather, Arvil “Buddy” Monday; and brother, Charlie Brown Gladish.

Her memory will forever live on through those who knew and loved her dearly. Wanda’s gentle spirit will never be forgotten by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, May 20, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, with Paul Childers officiating. Burial followed at Maggie Jones Cemetery in Finger.
